50 Shades of Grey - You've Either Read It or Want To

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

Mi... mi... Mid at best.

"When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana's quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own dark desires."

I don't understand the hype. Maybe at the time this was released - when Blackberry was still at its peak, smutty books were not as popular. Having sex scenes in romance books seems kind of the norm now since sex is a big part of attraction. Maybe it's the fact that they do seem to have sex QUITE A LOT for a 300-400 page book. Whatever the reason, I understand the initial "shock" factor. But it's 2023... Other, more disturbing, things have been written and made for the big screen.

On another note, If anything from this book appears romantic and NOT a sawying red flag in the wind, please seek help.

It's a 2.8.
